Oral Genome is collaborating with Harmony Health and United Concordia Dental to pilot its salivary testing technology. Three Pennsylvania dental organizations have launched a pilot using Oral Genome’s testing technology to expand access to preventive care for underserved communities.
The Pittsburgh locations of North American Dental Group (NADG), Miracle Dental Associates, and the Westmoreland County Community College Dental Hygiene Program will integrate Oral Genome’s instant saliva test and mobile app into their practices.
Administered in-office or at home, the test delivers real-time insights into oral health risks such as cavities, gum disease, and diabetes. Results are immediately available to patients and can be shared with dental and medical providers, supporting integrated, preventive care.
“We joined this program because it directly supports our commitment to advancing preventive care and leveraging innovation in dentistry,” said Rafael Rondon, RDH, BS, VP of Clinical Ops and Hygiene Development, NADG. “By integrating Oral Genome into our practices, we can better identify risk factors, increase acceptance of periodontal and preventive therapies, and strengthen the bridge between oral and systemic health.”
The pilot will include about 400 children and adults on Medicaid and will focus on those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Goals include improving patient engagement, increasing preventive care utilization, and expanding access to vital oral health
insights. Findings will guide strategies to scale successful approaches nationwide, demonstrating how innovative salivary testing can improve outcomes, reduce emergency visits, and lower long-term costs for families and payers.
