Hires
Behavioral healthcare provider Acadia Healthcare abruptly brought back Debra Osteen as its CEO, replacing Chris Hunter and taking the helm immediately as the company deals with a steep stock decline and mounting legal and financial challenges. Osteen previously led Acadia from 2018 to 2022, and before that, she was an executive at Universal Health Services.
Clinical decision support startup Aidoc welcomed Jesse Ehrenfeld as its new chief medical officer. Ehrenfeld, an anesthesiologist by training, is the former president of the American Medical Association.
Healthcare consultancy Chartis added Sara Vaezy as its chief product and technology officer. She ended her decade-long stint at Providence last year, saying goodbye to her role as chief transformation officer.
Scribing platform Heidi Health hired Nancy Cibotti as its U.S. chief medical information officer. She joined the company from Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston, where she served as chief innovation officer of primary care.
E-prescribing and medication management platform DrFirst appointed Valerie Mondelli as its new chief commercial officer. She has held this title before, at Iodine Software and RevSpring. Prior to that, she held leadership roles at companies including Eli Lilly, McKesson and Verisys.
MedeAnalytics, a healthcare data analytics company, welcomed David Figueredo as its chief innovation officer. He joined the company from Experian, where he served as vice president of innovation.
Health data platform Particle Health hired Abhi Sindhwani as its first chief growth officer. He joined the organization from Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH), where he was vice president of sales and growth enablement.
Ambient AI startup Suki added Abhi Pathak as its first chief product officer. He came to the company from care navigation company Accolade, where he held the same role. Before that he held leadership roles at PlushCare, Dropbox and Amazon.
Promotions
Kidney care company Interwell Health, now an operating segment of Fresenius Medical Care, appointed Carney Taylor as chief medical officer. He is succeeding George Hart, who retired on January 1 and will continue advising the company during the transition. Taylor, a nephrologist by training, joined Fresenius in 2020.
Benefits company VSP Vision named Dave Plevyak as chief insurance officer. He joined the company in 2016 as senior vice president of finance planning and analysis.
Layoffs
Hennepin Healthcare in Minnesota is eliminating five medical programs and about 100 full-time roles as a result of a $50 million budget shortfall.
Horizon BCBS New Jersey is laying off 242 employees as part of a larger restructuring effort. The insurer has laid off roughly 8% of its workforce in the past year.
Pharmaceutical giant Takeda is cutting 243 jobs across 47 states, primarily affecting its neuroscience sales force as the company braces for the upcoming loss of patent exclusivity on its depression drug Trintellix.
Tessera Therapeutics is laying off 90 employees — roughly 35% of its workforce — across several states as the gene‑editing biotech restructures and refocuses its operations.
