The Sunrise Group, a sleep health company, has secured $29 million in funding, which it will use to fuel the national expansion of its digital sleep clinic called Dreem Health, the company announced on Thursday.
Belgium-based the Sunrise Group offers a small chin sensor that focuses on mandibular jaw movements for precise sleep analysis. In 2024, it acquired Dreem Health, which offers video consultations, diagnostics and personalized treatment solutions for sleep conditions, such as sleep apnea. It accepts insurance, including UnitedHealthcare, Aetna and Medicare.
Its $29 million round was led by Eurazeo, and included participation from Amazon’s Alexa Fund, WE International, Kurma Partners, Vives Fund, Majycc (an UI Investissement fund), Namur Invest, Seventure Partners, Investsud, Sambrinvest, Noshaq, IMBC and Invest.BW. In total, the Sunrise Group has raised $58 million.
“What sets Sunrise Group apart is the combination of hardware and software built specifically for sleep health — technology that directly powers Dreem Health’s clinical services,” said Maxime Huerre, VP venture at Eurazeo, in a statement. “It’s not just another app or device. It’s the backbone of a new, scalable model for how sleep care will be delivered.”
With the funding, the company will expand Dreem Health’s support nationwide. It currently operates in 49 states. It’s also looking to expand internationally, such as France, where it recently completed a study with 848 patients, “validating the accuracy and effectiveness of our home sleep test when compared to traditional polysomnography,” said Laurent Martinot, CEO and founder of the Sunrise Group.
In addition, the company will invest in research and product development to improve the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
“Our focus is on scaling our digital sleep clinic, Dreem Health, with the ambition to build the largest sleep clinic in the United States—a place where patients can be easily diagnosed and treated for any sleep disorder, all from the comfort of home,” Martinot said in an email. “This means expanding access and accelerating technology development, including strategic investments in AI, to transform how sleep medicine is delivered.”
Currently, more than 70 million Americans battle sleep disorders, but there is only one sleep doctor for every 43,000 people. Studies show that a lack of sleep increases the risk of serious medical conditions, like obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Insufficient sleep is also associated with a shortened lifespan.
Several other companies are also trying to advance sleep care, including Snap Diagnostics, Blackstone Medical Services and BetterNight.
“What truly sets us apart is the fact that Dreem Health offers a fully comprehensive, end-to-end solution for sleep disorders – covering both diagnosis and treatment, and coordinating the full spectrum of therapies, from PAP devices and surgical implants to oral appliances and CBT-I – ensuring every patient receives the ideal, personalized care they need to finally achieve better sleep,” Martinot declared.
